SIM720 is pleased to present EGPO Stornoway Airport

EGPO Stornoway is the 2nd Scottish airport from SIM720 and complements the EGEO Oban Airport released one month ago. It was first discovered by the RAF long before there was landing ground for wheeled aircraft, when a flying boat landed in the local harbour back in 1928. EGPO Stornoway lies East of the town of Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides. Now operated by HIA (highlands and islands airports), the airport provides domestic passenger services (over 125,000 passengers a year) as well as hosting the HM Coastguard helicopter search and rescue and private aircraft flights. It is the gateway to the Western Isles of Scotland.

Please note this is NOT DX10 compatible.
Installs into FSX, P3Dv1 and P3Dv2.

My first post here and I'm just wondering why the majority of the official screenshots and most of the video was shot in near night time conditions?  I would really like to see the detail of the airport and not an atmospheric dark picture that doesn't show off the detail that has obviously been put into this release.  Don't get me wrong - I'll buy it I, but a more helpful set of screenshots would have been helpful.  I do believe the sun does shine in Stornoway.

The airport looks just as good during the day as it does at dusk or dawn, Graham. I am sure that others will post more screenshots to that effect after reading your post :)

Graham, every time I've loaded Stornoway with real weather it has been raining :P
Are you maybe confusing the location with somewhere in the Mediterranean? ;) Cheers k

Marc,

The SIM720 guys decided to state that the airport is not DX10 compatible because of an issue with "black squares" underneath lots of the objects. As a beta tester for SIM720 and another company, I can say that this "black squares" issue has cropped up elsewhere in DX10 mode, and it can be very difficult to discover what is causing it. I am sure that they will do their best to find a solution.

MarcJ, sorry but Chris is right. What we cannot understand is the issue does not affect anywhere else, Oban etc are fine just appears on Stornaway. We have done everything that we can currently think of but there seems to be no logic to this one. We will not give up but currently totally perplexed.

Just about to install Stornoway and I see from the guide (page 4) there are 2 options one of which is (strangely) P3Dv1.  Is this a typo?  I can see from the OP that it works in V1 & v2.
