It's a shame as P3D v2 was sold as the answer to OOMs. Fix one thing and break 10 others...

I'm still liking P3D and they have made it a priority to find the cause, so we just have to wait and see. Lockheed Martin are very open with what's going on (just like you guys too!!!!!!!).

I've tried the lower quality textures and had another CTD half way between Stornoway and Inverness in P3Dv2. I don't think the CTD is anything to do with the Sim720 products. Something else is going on in v2.1 that my computer doesn't like. Over to LM now methinks.

Tried the flight between INS and SYY in both directions, the low qual textures make no difference to the end result - CTD every time.

Further to the earlier posts - I have removed the Mindstar GNS and now have no CTDs with P3D v2. I've advised Mindstar who I'm sure will look into it.

I am still puzzled about Inverness. I have just conducted a quick test flight at the airport in the (admittedly VAS hungry) PMDG 737NGX, and I experienced quite a lot of those "black rectangles" on the terrain as I was on the downwind leg, and turning onto final approach. I can't understand why this should happen at Inverness, because it is not a particularly dense scenery area. I tried the test again with the freeware FSX Power Project electricity pylons enabled, and I experienced large expanses of white rectangles where terrain textures should have been, and all the autogen disappeared! In fact, my entire 737NGX VC disappeared at the same time! I am amazed that FSX was still running!!

I am starting to wonder whether this problem is related to the "invisible approach light support structures", since I have never actually seen them yet!

This is with the 512x512 textures installed.

It has nothing to do with the approach light structures and you can test it yourself by disabling them "PLC_EGPE_ILSLights_pw.bgl"

thanks for confirming, the new patch does wonders for the VAS usage.
