hi guys

First of all, thanks for the great scenery! I flew around in a cessna a few times to admire it.

I also decided to take the Airbus (Aerosoft airbus) for a spin to EGPE and as soon as I got close to the INS VOR, I got an OOM. FSX continued to run but the scenery was completely greyed out and the buildings had disappeared. Any ideas? I had disabled static aircraft. I mean, I had taken off from EGLL (UK2000 EGLL Extreme) with full AI aircraft and there were no problems, so I think it's something to do with the EGPE scenery there.

Another thing I noticed is that when I load up FSX in EGPE with the default trike, it takes an age to load the Autogen, like 5-10 mins!!

Have a feeling there is some kind of memory leak or object coding problem somwhere....... but I could be wrong

Maybe you can help me on this...

Thanks!

Chris

Hi,

we are looking at why some are getting OOM's, can you provide a few more details to help us

1. what base scenery are you using? (Orbx, Horizon, default)

2. any other addons in use (rex, opus, any traffic addons etc)

3. pc spec

Paul

hi Paul

Thanks for your quick reply.

I'm using Orbx Scotland plus REX4 (though this is not running in the background, it's just to inject textures afaik), FS Global Real Weather and the following modules:

A2A_Feel.dll

ActiGate.dll

FSUIPC.DLL

FSUIPC4.DLL (latest version)

LHBP_objectPlacer.dll

I'm on FSX Acceleration

Thanks for your help!

Have a good start to 2014 and good luck at finding the culprit to the OOMs

Chris

Hi

I have a possible fix for you to test

1. Download  Attached File  egpe-agn-test.zip   311.88KB   665 downloads

2. Unzip and move/overwrite the files here "{fsx/p3d}\SIM720\Airports\SIM720_EGPE\Texture\"

3. Test

Hi Paul, well I just tested those files. I did a flight with the Majestic Dash 8 into EGPE. Everything was fine until I was on the ground taxiing to the stand, I got the FSUIPC chiming sound. But it didn't actually get an OOM. But it was obviously close to one. I managed to park up at the gate with GSX and still got the chime but no actual crash. It seems hard to understand why the VAS usage is so high as there are not that many buildings (it's not EGLL or something) and there was only 1 AI aircraft parked up at the time. Strange!  But at least I managed to land and park up successfully. Nice scenery!!

Oh I just panned around the scenery and zoomed out from external view and bang! Got an OOM and exit ! :(  Must be some kind of serious memory leak caused by some object or other I guess....hmmmmm

Hi,

Can you confirm you are using FSX SP2 or FSX with Acceleration pack as i can't get FSX to OOM and i've been flying around for over an hour today using the default 747 with Orbx scotland and everything on max and i don't get above 3GB VAS.

Factor in a complex addon aircraft - NGX or Majestic Q400 - you could probably get and OOM on approach or landing if Inverness was the destination airport.

I have to say that I've noticed quite high VAS usage from Inverness in P3Dv2 aswell - done a VFR flight in the Carenado SR22 from UK2000 Manchester to Inverness with FTX Global & Vector installed and got an OOM on finals.

Same flight to UK2000 Edinburgh and Sim720 Stornoway - no OOM.

P3Dv2 has a higher starting VAS usage so no point comparing it to fsx, also Global has a lot more houses around Inverness than in default or Orbx scotland so this also increases VAS usage. I'm still trying to track down what is causing it to use more VAS usage.

I was kind of hoping that it might in some way be related to FTX Global - I'm only using that for UK scenery until the Orbx FTX UK regions are updated for P3Dv2.

I defintely concur on the higher baseline VAS usage in P3Dv2 - the increased LOD radius, tessellation and shadows certainly play a big part in that - but if your settings aren't wildly optimistic then it is definitely workable, hopefully the memory management will improve as the platform is updated.

Hi cjhffm

We have made some lower resolution ground poly files that will reduce the VAS usage by approx 200-250Mb but will slightly reduce the ground poly quality.

1. Download http://flight.sim720...nd_Textures.zip

2. Unzip and move/overwrite the files here "{fsx/p3d}\SIM720\Airports\SIM720_EGPE\Texture\"

3. Test

Here are a copy of the original files if you want to go back again

Hi Paul

Sorry for my late reply, I've been away for a while! I appreciate your support and I'll test the new files today.

Thanks

Best

Chris
