Guys,

I've just done a clean re-install of Prepard3D v2.1 - gutted to see the lighting issues with Sim720 sceneries are still present - any thoughts?

Thanks

I've posted on the LM forum regarding lights issues asking LM to clarify what legacy compatibility they intend to seek regarding the BGL_LIGHTS issues, so devs know at least what they HAVE to change and update to work in P3D2.1... Or are your lights otherwise constructed Paul? Cheers k

The runway and taxiway lights use effects, the papi lights use BGL_lights.

I'm currently doing loads of tests again to see if i can narrow it down.

Well the P3Dv2.1 update wasn't quite the silver bullet alot of folks (including myself) were hoping it was gonna be.

Went back to FSX for the time being as tired of not being able to fully enjoy all my addons.

I've upgraded my PC to a 4670K @ 4.5Ghz and a GTX780 - spent most of today rebuilding system and reinstalling all softwares.

Got FSX back on, done my tweaks (affinity mask, highmemfix and wideaspect) and got Nvidia inspector nicely tuned - with the majority of my addons reinstalled I'm actually getting really good performance with mostly very high slider settings - nothing like I've seen before with FSX.

Sitting at Inverness with FTX Scotland, Opus weather, REX 2048 textures in the NGX getting over 40 fps!

All for the bargain price of a £1200 upgrade....Nobody let my fiance see my credit card statement for a while...ssshhhh

Happy days :D

Well V2.1 worked for me.  I  decided to rebuild the system (i5 windows 7 64bit, Nvida GTX 560ti 2g) and remove fsx, followed by the full version of P3d 2.1, not patched.

Sat on the tarmac at EGNH Blackpool, Genx/Revolution, Rex4 2048 resolution, Opus Weather. Autogen Very Dense, full shadows...getting 68fps, then 28 in full clouds during flight to Earsim Isle of Man.  landed in bad weather at Ronaldsway with FPS 28-30, using A2a C172.

I can only say after 2 weeks of messing with P3d, it's worth it, because it's much much better graphics/speed.  Vsinc and full screen are perfect and not stuttering like fsx.

Fsx is now ditched, so P3d 2.1 onwards for me.

Has anybody used Caernarfon in 2.1 yet, as I think you need to install to fsx, then migrate to p3d.

Ken

I am not interested in P3D at the moment. After a full reinstall of FSX and all of my addons, I have resolved a serious stutter issue that I was suffering from, and there is no way that I want to go through all that again (an entire weekend to reinstall everything, and then well over a week to replace and update my UT2 AI traffic schedules). Since I am not confident at all that most of my addons will work properly in P3D, it would be a daft move as far as I am concerned.
