I'm planning to purchase the C42 ikarus simulator (as I've had a couple of lessons in that plane), but would appreciate some advice first from existing users.

1. I'm thinking that FSX for Steam is probably better than buying FSX directly. Would you agree?

2. Is it feasible to use the sim with just keyboard and mouse, or does one really need a joystick and pedals?
Any advice in buying controls?

Many thanks for all suggestions.

1. FSX Steam vs Direct is a personal choice but im not sure anywhere still sells new copies of FSX as its so old but there are plenty of old 2nd hand copies around. Both should work as good as each other, of you do go the 2nd hand route you need to make sure you install service pack 1 & 2 otherwise addons will be broken.

2. you can do it via keyboard and mouse and it will work but its not realistic and it can be hard but if you want to use it for training, a joystick would be the minimum requirement to me
