Blackpool is certainly a good idea, but do remember it's on Gary Summons' 'to do' list.

Yep, but only after:

Heathrow V3; Prestwick; Stansted Remake; Aberdeen; Inverness and Humberside

..and Sim720 are already producing Inverness. I think Sim720 could have a go at it first, no-one has a monopoly on future airfield development and I don't think Blackpool is scheduled for anytime in the next year from UK2000, unless someone else knows different?

Gary's airports IMHO have some significant strengths, ie their FPS friendliness and animations, but also some serious weaknesses, ie some texturing is lower quality in some areas and he includes nothing outside an airport boundary.

If Sim720 can match the good points and better the not so good, then fair play...

I think a couple more smaller airfields done to a substantial and better quality first, to prove to the community a track record and ability to compete with some big established players, wouldn't be a bad thing. It needn't take long, look at 29Palms for a great example of going from zero to hero....

Got to agree with Kevin, it's a commercial decision and that means competition also. Anyone can publish a list of 'to do' but what really matters is what is available, at what quality and at what price.What will simmers actually buy! Aerosoft have done some of UK2000 airports, after all!

Personally I'd rather see some Northern France small airports ( but I've said that already in suggestions   )

As I've always advocated on other forums, competition is good for our hobby.  And since Sim720 made both England and Wales regions, stands to reason their airports would be better matches.

I am not aware that Gary is intending to do Blackpool Xtreme in the near future, but I could always ask him (I am a beta tester for UK2000).

Gary's list is rather long, and those Xtreme versions of airports don't get done in a day! However, if you wanted to pick an airport that is NOT on the list, I would suggest Durham Tees Valley.

I for one favour the smaller airfields for my flying, so would go with a suggestion in another thread for WICKENBY.

Lots of history and still very active. Just my thought.

Well let's crowd source a top 10 from 1,000s of potential customers then? I haven't checked out the avsim forum yet or anywhere else but surely we can get the word out sufficiently to be able to get a good enough statistical response?

I second that one, Dave. I have always wanted a decent version of Northampton Sywell, particularly since they constructed that concrete runway.

Another interesting airport to consider for the future would be EGMD Lydd. There are plans to expand this airport in the near future, and increase the length of the runway. It would also be an opportunity to get a decent 3D model of Dungeness Nuclear Power Station
